Two More Weekends to Tour Smith Island From Pt. Lookout Marina

Capt Greg Madjeski will be conducting cruises to Smith Island this weekend and next and then shut it down for the season. If you haven’t yet done this six hour tour, it is worth the trip to Smith Island to visit and see another way of life lived out there in the middle of the Bay. Go and see it for yourself.

Some photos here of Buzzy folks who ventured over just last week with Capt. Greg and his wife Darline. Shown here is Gary Wood, whose grandmother was a Ewell, posing for a photo taken in front of the Smith Island Post Office by the Postmaster.

This video is from a recent “60 Minutes” show. The lady at the the 2:50 mark sums it up very nicely when she notes “You got to have a lot of faith to live out here in the middle of this Bay.” The lady at the end of the video also has some nice observations about living life one day at a time and being passionate about the time that we have left here wherever we find ourselves.

One of my go-to guys on the radio is Michael Smerconish who uses this tune, originally done by Stealers Wheel, for his theme song. As he goes to and from breaks in his show, Michael will include various cover versions of the song such as this one:
