Dog Days And Nights Pt. 2

After posting yesterday’s doggy-related items here on the Buzzyblog, I then saw this complaint on the “Piney Point Neighbors” FB page:

Stark and Furlong Are Streets in Our Neighborhood

It made me smile a little because I had had some previous (and current) dealings with this barking dog and his owner. Here is the rest of that story.

I was awake in the middle of one night when I heard this dog barking on the next street over from my house. And when I say barking , he was doing so very loudly and continually. He did so the rest of the night until the sun came up.

I was concerned that something had happened to the dog’s owner and that the dog was trying to get attention to come provide assistance. I walked over to the residence and saw the dog now resting in the back yard and no car in the driveway.

I returned to my home and texted a neighbor who lives a few doors down from the residence. She informed me that the owner worked nights and because he left the dog outside, the dog would frequently bark during the night.

A couple hours later, another neighbor visited me and said that she understood that I was upset about the dog’s barking and hoped that I was going to do something about it. Marveling at how fast that word had spread, I told her that I was not upset as much as I was worried that something had happened to the dog’s owner. I told her that I did not really plan on doing anything more about it but that I could see how the constant barking got on her nerves.

That would be the end of this “dog barking story” save for the dog’s owner coming by my house a couple nights later. Turns out that I knew him from Buzzy’s where he has visited me previously as a distributor/deliveryman. He informed me that word had gotten back to him that I was upset and he wanted to apologize and discuss/explain to me what was up with his dog and all the barking.

He told me that either a opossum, raccoon or a groundhog was hanging out around his place and that that was what was causing his dog to bark so much. He said that he was working on getting rid of whatever it was that was causing his dog to be so riled up and bark so much.

Apparently he did so, because soon afterwards the dog quieted down. He will still go on extended barking sprees occasionally as he did the other night; but for the most part he has quieted down. The irony of all this is that the dog’s owner now stores his campers in my Buzzy storage lot and we have become friends. Go figure!

Music-wise Gary Ramey sent me the following note on the inclusion of yesterday’s Beatles’ tune Hey Bulldog.

Great Bowie tune and thanks Gary!

As for other dog songs, I have included Boo (click here) and Shannon (click here) in previous posts. Mandy I will focus on in a future Twofer post.
