Chief Larry and I conducted our first Zoom Buzzy Podcast when we interviewed my oldest daughter Ryan who resides in Maui.
Regarding the Dan Quayle story (1:50) and how Ryan met him, I blogged about it on January 19, 2017 (click here.)
In the Podcast (3:35) Ryan discusses how it was Sister Mary Angela Shaughnessy who was instrumental in orchestrating her relocation to that part of the world. (I have previously discussed how Ryan was named after Sister Mary Angela (click here.))
As for how she began her photography career, Ryan discussed (17:50) her motivation for doing so. She cites the success story surrounding a photo taken by one of her friends whose Peek-a-boo Turtle is shown here:
And when we discussed traversing the back road to Hana (27:40) it brought back some scary memories of our doing so a few years ago (click here for previous blog post on this.)
We also discussed (22:45) The Eddie which is a big wave surf event held at Waimea Bay in the December-January timeframe. The event is only held if the waves exceed 20 feet, and accordingly is rarely a go. (That said, it has been held the last 2 years.) And while it has long been a bucket list item of mine, I am now thinking that it is also another one of those BLI’s that ends up on my cutting room floor. Then again, maybe I will retire for good and move to the North Shore someday.
When I saw that last year’s Eddie winner was musician Landon McNamara, I decided to check him out. Covering the waterfront (get it?) Ryan and I discussed him too in our interview (24:20!)
Very appropriately, here is a nice little Daddy-Daughter video tune from him:
