Wild Card Thursday

Gonna be a good day. For only the second time in MLB history, 3 of the 4 opening Wild Card round series will come down to a winner-take-all game today. (Wild Card round is best of 3 games.) The 3 series are all tied at 1-1 so today really is nut cutting time.

The Dodgers eliminated the Reds in a two game sweep and advance to the Division Round to play the Phillies in what should be a great best of 5 series. Go Bryce and Company! The Phillies are my pick to win it all. However, most of the sports talk experts are saying that this year’s field is wide open so who knows what can or will happen? Guess they will just have to play the games to find out.

In gambling circles, bookies and Vegas love MLB’s post-season baseball particularly when the Yankees and Red Sox play. There is always an uptick in betting these games and of course the sportsbooks get the vig from this action.

I will take the plunge and tonite, bet the Red Sox to win. I do this knowing that everything favors the Yankees. However, out of habit, I can never root for nor bet on the Yankees. And yes, I will spring for a round at Buzzy’s tomorrow should the Sox prevail.

Musically, from the movie Alfie, Mick’s tune seems appropriate:
