I had a couple in Buzzy’s Country Store last summer who informed me that they from Metter, Georgia. As soon as they told me this, I responded “It’s better in Metter.” They smiled and asked me “Oh, you know about Metter?” I laughed and said “No, I have a friend who lives there and he told me that that is their hometown saying/motto.”
I thought of this couple and my friend who lives in Metter, Craig Jarboe the other day when the weather turned nice. Everyone coming into Buzzy’s commented on just how nice it was. My response to them was “It’s better when the weather is better.”
Those first couple days of spring are always like one huge cleansing breathe where you exhale and say “Thank God winter is over.” With campers heading down to Point Lookout, people sitting out on the Buzzy front porch, and motorcycles in the parking lot, all are good signs that spring really is indeed here.
Taking the above photo reminded me that I need to order some ice.
I thought of Vanilla’s tune indirectly when I watched the movie Is This Thing On? “Under Pressure” played in the background of several scenes and served to set the tone for the movie. Listen for it here in the movie’s trailer (00:50:)
Note – movie is available on YouTube for $5.99. I would recommend it for any of you who have been there and done the whole divorce thing, but gotta warn you that it is very slow, nothing blows up, no car chase scenes, and only a little sex. But for $6 it does have some great acting, funny scenes and some great cameos. I will give you a clue as to who one of them is – “Omaha!” (And if you are still curious as to who that is click here and go to 2:40 to find out.)
