Two St. Joseph Stories

Twofer Tuesday so let’s focus on a couple of stories about my namesake and patron Saint Joseph.

I was on the road yesterday passing through Morganza when the sun shining down on St. Joseph’s Church caught my eye. I pulled into the parking lot and took a couple of photos of it.

It prompted me to check out the St. Joseph FB page where I found these photo’s:

Back in the day when I took wedding photos, I always looked forward to a wedding held in St. Joseph’s. Because its interior is so picturesque and beautiful with all those arches and columns, it was a great setting for getting some very nice photos.

I could never figure out how to take a photo of the bride and groom posed beneath this scene above the altar:

The second St. Joseph reference came to me recently from my friend Mike Hautzenroder via a text message:

That the stairway was constructed in 1873 in a chapel located in Santa Fe, New Mexico makes the St. Joseph connection a little hard to believe. However, the video does a nice job explaining the mysterious circumstances surrounding the stairway and its construction:

Mike visited the Chapel in 2017 and took these photos:

The Snopes folks were a bit skeptical of this being a miraculous-St.-Joe-job (click here for their explanations.)

That said however, regardless who did or did not construct it, the staircase itself is still a remarkable feat. That alone makes it semi-miraculous. Thank you Mike for sending this my way. Somewhere St. Joseph is smiling (maybe.)

As the video above concluded (10:15) with a short prayer to St. Joseph, I will also: “St Joseph, guardian of the mysteries of life, build my way where I see no way out. May God bless us all.”

Guess I should play the most famous of stair songs “Stairway to Heaven” but have done so many times previously. Here then, check out one that does not mention stairs nor steps. Also, it makes you wait until the very end of the song/video to see why it is such a famous stair song. (Go to 4:25 mark if you don’t care to catch all of Rocky in training and doing his early morning jog thru Philly.)
