After sweeping the best team in baseball (and doing so in one of the greatest games that I have ever watched*) the Orioles were flying high this time a week ago. They had won 5 of their last 6 games and things appeared to be starting to click for them.
However, from that feel-good moment, they then proceeded to lose two straight to the Blue Jays. The second loss was a terrible, gut wrenching affair that saw them give up a 5 run lead in the 7th inning and lose 6-5 Saturday night.
Less than 24 hours later, they redeemed themselves by coming from behind for a walk off 6-5 win Sunday afternoon.
From the Orioles Fanatics FB page, this fan summarized it best:
Well the O’s did just that, winning Sunday and finishing 7-3 on the home stand.
Of all the Orioles’ teams thru the years, this one may well be the funnest (I know that that is not a word) but also the most aggravating to watch.
The Blues Magoos get lumped into the Garage Rock genre and their opening line to this tune always runs thru my mind following roller-coaster moments “One day you’re up and the next day you’re down.”
Since it is Twofer Tuesday, this second tune always plays on my internal juke box whenever the Orioles pull off one on those amazing come back, walk off wins:
*I was opened Memorial Day Monday and had the Orioles/Rays game on the Buzzy Big Screen. It was an extra innings game that saw the O’s eventually win it in the 13th inning on a walk off Cowser home run.
There is no better feeling than being with a group of your friends rooting for and having your team come from behind and win. To quote Chris Farley “It was awesome!” To see the highlights of that game (click here.) If you are an old fart like me, you get the Kevin Brown reference on the home run call “Ain’t the milk cold!” (Apologize for all the ads that you have to endure before and throughout the video.)
