Brady told me that when he worked with the Adams Brothers they always had the radio on playing some rock and roll. He noted that whenever a Dylan tune played, Pat Adams would comment about Dylan being “Big Bob.” Pat then designated Seger as “Little Bob.” (I would have to throw Reggae Bob in there too.)
As for Big Bob, check out this 1976 live performance (below) of this tune off of his Blood on the Tracks album. It may just be my favorite tune of his from my favorite album of his.
The video was filmed at one of the shows for the Rolling Thunder 1975-1976 tour. For a good documentary on this, check out Netflix’s Rolling Thunder Revue: A Bob Dylan Story by Martin Scorsese. Personal observation – now when I listen to this song, I find myself pausing at the “One eyed undertaker, he blows a futile horn” line* (3:00.) Makes me wonder if I don’t need someone to give me a little shelter from that particular storm.
And because it is a Twofer Tuesday, there was this Howard interview with Jeff Bridges wherein they discussed Big Bob:
Note – Pam and I are doing some traveling for the next couple weeks so I have the Buzzy Blog posts set on cruise control for you to check out. Thanks to the wonders of Word Press it allows me to pre-post items that will continue to appear daily here on the blog. Thus, as they say in the rooms – keep coming back!
As for Buzzy’s Country Store, it will continue to be open in my absence thanks to a little help from my family and friends. Make that a lot of help from my family and friends! My thanks in advance to them.
