While stocking the Buzzy Country Store beer case, I heard someone on the radio talking about artists who hate their biggest hit song. I was a little surprised when I heard that Frank did not care for Strangers in the Night.
Whenever I hear a reference to this tune, I always think of The Oar House in Park Hall (where the current Post Office/Cook’s Store is today.) On the Mens’s Bathroom wall someone wrote:
A little research reveals that there are many attributions for the originators of the first two lines (click here.) However, all sources are in agreement that Do-be-do-be-do is all Frank.
As for who inscribed it on the Oar House bathroom wall, as far as I know that remains a mystery. Anyone know?
Here is Frank talking about how he did not care for the tune initially but recorded it anyway. (Note how he does not do the do-be-do-be-do bit. Come on Frank, it wasn’t all that bad was it?!)
