Speaking of Charlie Simms, every day when he rolls into Buzzy’s Country Store at 4 o’clock he’s got Elvis blasting away.  Sometimes he’ll leave it playing for the folks on the porch to enjoy while he joins his 4 O’clock Club compatriots to knock back a few. 

Always makes me smile at how cool that is.  Too, it makes me wonder if at 88 will I ever be rolling into some juke joint blasting say Brown Sugar?  No way – there won’t be any juke joints left to roll into right? 

But now that I’m talking Elvis tunes and getting older, I find myself liking his ballads and slow songs more so than his Hound Dog/Teddy Bear stuff.   Puttering around the Store some days I’ll put on XM’s Elvis Channel 19 and just listen to the King do his thing.  My favorite Elvis tune might just be his cover of Suspicion which was initially a Terry Stafford tune.  Terry’s version was good, but Elvis, well you know he is, was and always will be the king as is Charlie Simms.
