Washington State of Mind (Visitors to Buzzy’s)

Over the course of a week, 5 folks, originally from Washington State, dropped into Buzzy’s Country Store.  (One couple still resides in a suburb just south of Seattle, but the other three folks are currently living elsewhere.)

My first Washingtonian visitor was a nice lady who has recently relocated here to the County to be near her daughter and grand daughter.  Her daughter joined the Navy several years ago and was stationed at Pax River.  Daughter eventually married, had a baby, got divorced and then remained here after landing a job post-Navy service.  Mom resided in south west Washington State but decided to move to St. Mary’s to be near her daughter and grand daughter.  Mom is currently teaching in a local elementary school.

Next in the Store a few days later were two guys who currently reside in the D.C./Arlington area but both were originally from – you guessed it Washington State.  One was from Seattle and the other from Spokane.   I didn’t find out how they ended up in the “other Washington” (i.e. D.C.) but from the sound of their conversation they weren’t planning on moving back to Washington State anytime soon.

Then just this past Friday I was visited by a couple from Seattle.  They came into the Store with their relatives who live here in the County in Valley Lee.   The Seattle couple had been up to Freehold, New Jersey where the lady’s Mom still resides.

I enjoyed talking to and getting to know these folks and hope that someday they make it back to Buzzy’s.

I had been to Seattle years ago with daughter Reagan when she graduated high school.  We did the tourist thing hitting the Space Needle, the Market and even took a Grayline Tour of the city where we were informed of all sorts of facts and info about the Emerald City.  We also travelled to Renton a suburb of Seattle to pay our respects to Jimi (click here.) For more interesting facts about Washington State, the only State named after a President (click here.)  Did you know that Quincy Jones was also from Seattle?  This video/song is from a very good Q’s Jook Joint CD put together by him:
