A Country Store Doesn’t Sell Pesto

Deemed OK Despite 50 sq. ft. Prohibition Against Such Signage
Here is a good article  discussing some political doings over in Rappahannock County, Virginia (click here).

Trump supporters have placed the above sign on a hillside and it has set off several complaints from those who fail to see the promised greatness.  The article discusses underlying bad feelings and mistrust between the “native families” aka locals who have been there for centuries and the “transplants” or “come here’s.”

OK, so what’s this got to do with Buzzy’s Country Store I hear you asking.  Towards the end of the article, a resident is quoted as saying that the lack of country stores in Rappahannock County has contributed to the growing divisions among their citizenry.  Article excerpts follow:

Pesto aside, my take would be that Sperryville’s Corner Store is not a country store because it doesn’t have a front porch!

And speaking of front porches, it’s good excuse for me to pass along this Kim Wiley photo of some folks with experience in running a country store/tavern – the Dents and the Williams – posing with a Ridge boy on Buzzy’s front porch:

Also, found this video that features an old country store in Tennessee.
