Scotland Post Office

Photo Taken in 2010

Wednesday’s Enterprise featured a front page article by Jason Babcock discussing the future of the old Scotland Post Office building.  Sort of like the U.S. Post Office itself, the Scotland building is in bad shape and fading fast.  My picture above is even a little misleading in that it was taken 3 years ago and actually doesn’t look too bad compared to how much the building  has deteriorated since then.

As Jason mentioned in his article, in 2010 I tried to have the Scotland postal operations transferred back to Buzzy’s Country Store which was its original location.  However, the impression I got at the time and one that was ultimately correct, was that the die had been cast and the Scotland operations were done for.  Operations were subsequently merged with the Ridge Post Office.

If I had the energy to do so, I’d see about relocating the existing structure up to the Buzzy Country Store property.  Wife Pam thinks that the building could be renovated and sees it as maybe being converted into something like an antiques shop.   I’m not ruling any of this out.  However, when I really consider it, all I see is alot of work, money and hassle.   As always, I revert to WWBD (What Would Buzzy Do) and have my answer.
