Thanks to all the providers and preparers on hand to make it go off as well as it did, Buzzy’s Oyster Scald/Fest was a great success. My thanks to the oyster suppliers John Carbone (Point Lookout Oyster Company) and JD Blackwell (38 North Oyster Company – 301-872-5051 or 240-298-1295.)
And big thanks to Captain Jimmy Cullison for managing all of the oyster prep arrangements. Jimmy had some able bodied assistance from Captain Greg Madjeski who made sure that the oysters for frying were patted down the St. Mary’s County way. (As the name implies, oysters are sandwiched between breadcrumbs and squeezed or patted down prior to being placed in the hot oil. The pat down technique is discussed in this Baltimore Sun article although it does not specifically mention the St Mary’s County way (click here.)
Everything went well. (Even the Ravens managed to not ruin a nice Sunday afternoon although they tried to do so.) We’ll definitely put this one in the rotation of annual Buzzy events.
