My Father's Store

Buzzyblog posts earlier in the week about the Raymond General Store celebrating 100 years and The Apple Basket operating in a building that housed a general store from the 1800’s sent me to the files to document the ownership of Buzzy’s Country Store.

Thus, Nathan Shuman started the store in 1897 before selling it to his son Mike in 1926.  Mike sold it to my Grandfather Harry Raley in 1945.  Harry sold it to his son-in-law Buzzy in 1953.  Repeating Nathan and Mike’s father-son transfer of ownership, I bought the store from Buzzy in August 2007.  Thus, Buzzy’s Country Store has been in the hands of only two families for over 100 years.

Clapton did a song about My Father’s Eyes which you’re probably familiar with but here’s one from Elton that talks about owning My Father’s Gun.  I may have to write a tune about owning My Father’s StoreDo you think that the song’s refrain should have something in it  about “Pay me!?”
