Baseball Trip

Brady and I are off on our annual Baseball Trip and this year we return to St. Louis and Kansas City. We have already been to both these cities and their ball parks but St. Louis has a new Busch Stadium (right) and Royals’ Park has been renovated.  Also, this time in KC we’re going to check out a Chiefs’ game at Arrowhead Stadium.  (Wonder if they are getting any flack about changing their Native American names.)

Our first “Baseball Trip” was in 1993 when we went up the East Coast and caught 5 games in 5 days. Interesting note, Camden Yards was only a year old at the time and 3 of the ball parks that we visited in 93 have since been torn down and replaced with newer parks. Fenway Park still stands but really should be replaced, dump that it is.  The stadium purists disagree with me on this, but Fenway is one big dump as far as I’m concerned.  Wrigley is the real deal but Fenway is just not that cool.  Joke I used to tell is that Fenway was just one step above Pennies Ball Field and even Pennies is now defunct.  Fenway should join it.   (I’m not just being a Ridge-boy smart ass about this either.  If you google “Fenway Dump” you’ll find all sorts of comments from others who say the same thing, e.g. click here.)

Couple photo’s from that first trip of ours.

Clock wise from bottom left:  Brady, Shea and Reagan at Phillies old Veterans stadium, three of them at Shea Stadium, photo of Fenway Dump and me with Shea and Reagan at old Yankee Stadium.  Above left and right, all of us somewhere on the road.  At  3:00, Brady, Shea and Reagan (with the fly-away hair) and the Statue of Liberty in background.
