One more steamboat item for you and then I’ll roll on down the blogging river.
Did you know the original name of Walt Disney’s cartoon mouse creation was Steamboat Willie vice Mickey? (Walt was also kicking around Mortimer Mouse as the name but his first film featured Steamboat Willie. I know you are busy but check out Po Dunk Landing at the 2.06 mark:)
And since I am doing old video’s about someone named Willie here’s one for you. Who says people don’t change? Handsome dude back then wasn’t he?
And for the Willie trifecta lets check out a song that I always wondered what the hell was being talked about. Turns out the song written by Johnny Otis originated because they wouldn’t let the kids dance in the aisles so they did some hand jive action instead (click here.) Excerpt follows:
“The origin of the song came when one of Otis’ managers, Hal Ziegler, found out that rock’n’roll concert venues in England did not permit the teenagers to stand up and dance in the aisles, so they instead danced with their hands while remaining in their seats.”
Everybody has covered this song including the movie Grease. I kind of like how George does it.
