Like Trump, Charming is Not in the Buzzy Vocabulary

Thank you Terry, but see my comments below.

From http://www.onlyinyourstate.com/maryland/charming-general-stores-md/

St. Inigoes General Store made the list.  Obviously, I agree with Terry and thank her for suggesting that Buzzy’s should be on any such listing of country stores.

That said however, “charming” “nostalgic” and “sentimental” are not my most favorite adjectives to describe Buzzy’s.  (The other thing lots of folks will say when they walk into Buzzy’s for the first time is “How quaint.”  I don’t care for that description either.)   So maybe it is just as well that Buzzy’s is not mentioned on this charming list.

Also, while discussing descriptions of country stores, I’m not completely sold on the “it feels like you’re stepping back in time” that is often laid on these old stores and shops.  My translation of that description is always “that and it also feels like they’ll be out of business in a year or two.”

I know, my motto for Buzzy’s is “The way things used to be” so I plead guilty to working that old, throw back time feeling one associates with a country store.   However, my second choice of a motto was “Buzzy’s – a Place with Character(s.)”  Notice in the write-ups accompanying the ten charming stores listed above that nothing is said about the folks who drop into those establishments.  A genuine country store is more than a place to shop, it is a place where people meet, relax and interact.

Now, if they were compiling a listing of the most “authentic,” the most “classic” or even the “redneckiest” country stores in Maryland and Buzzy’s was not on one of those lists, then I might be pissed.  However, I’m good with not being on this so called charming list.

A Store Has Been On This Turn in the Road Since 1887 and Has Been Operated By Only Two Families.
How Many Other Places Can Say That?
