Speaking of the Cubs making the World Series (Monday’s Buzzyblog post) it reminded me of Babe Ruth’s famous called shot that occurred during the 1932 Yankees-Cubs World Series (click here.)
As a kid growing up a huge baseball fan, I had always assumed that the Babe’s Called Shot was a given fact of baseball history. It wasn’t until my adult years when I visited the Babe Ruth Museum in Baltimore and saw the exhibit on the Called Shot that I even knew about it being controversial. I remember feeling disappointed and down that it may not have been true. Why can’t the stuff of legends and heroes stay non-controversial?
