"Abbey Road Side 2"

Friday potpourri of some things I started but never quite managed to finish.  Happens a lot nowadays.

Tale of Two Dramas – Told and Untold
I can always tell when a story or an event has achieved a certain level of notoriety by the frequency that it gets mentioned in Buzzy’s Country Store.  For example, the Thai kids-in-a-cave-story became a biggie as just about everybody was aware of and interested in the rescue of the boys.

However, while that drama unfolded, there was another Thai story concerning the drowning of 46 tourists (click here) that received very little to no media attention.  Hence, no comments about it were overheard in Buzzy’s.   Weird how one story gets publicity and another doesn’t.

Abell’s Tavern – A County Thing
Whenever I pass Abell’s Tavern on my way out and in Rt. 249 I always check out their signage to see what they have on sale.  (I don’t just do this for Abell’s Tavern, I check out every liquor store I pass because when you own a liquor business that’s what you do.)

So when a new Budweiser sign was plastered on each end of Abell’s it naturally caught my eye.  One day I managed to grab this photo of “Mom” who runs Abell’s along with her husband.

Am I the only one who sees any irony in this “It’s a County Thing”?

Hot
Remember back in the middle of winter when we were smacked with a bitter cold front of sub-freezing temps?  Several of my Buzzy’s Country Store visitors would comment along the lines “Well, so much for that global warming b.s. all those liberals keep talking about.”  Even our Clown in Chief tweeted a comment along those lines:

I found this excellent explanation of the difference between weather and climate:

A Whale of a Photo – Or Vice Versa
National Geographic announced their photo winners and this one was deemed to be the best.

Its a good shot but personally, I like Linda Lepper’s photo of several whales breaching in Hoonah, Alaska.

P.S. In case you didn’t get the “Abbey Road – Side 2” reference title (click here.)   The medley ends with this little ditty about the Queen:

P.S. P.S Trump meets the Queen of England today.  I guess the best we can hope for is that he doesn’t just walk up to her and, in his own words, “grab her by the pussy.”
