In addition to visiting churches while in Europe (previous post) another tourist activity involves visits to World War 1 and II places such as museums, cemeteries and battle sites. This is particularly so in Germany and France with Normandy of course being the most famous site.
While on this trip we visited a couple different World War II sites including a museum and a cemetery which were very well done. We also visited the French town Holtzwihr and the memorial they have erected at the exact site where Audie Murphy made his stand holding off Nazi soldiers. I took this photo of my buddy Robert Willey standing in front of the memorial to Audie.
