Thus far this December I have been bombarding you with various Christmas tunes that I like and don’t particularly mind hearing over and over again.
Here then is a listing of some of those Christmas standards that I really can’t stand to the the point that I’ll turn the channel should they start to play. In no particular order of dislike here are my Top 5 Least Favorite Christmas Tunes:
Anything by the Chipmunks; Burl Ives’ “Holly Jolly Christmas”; Brenda Lee’s “Rocking Around the Christmas Tree”; Barbara Streisand’s “Jingle Bells.” (However, I shouldn’t single just Babs out because I don’t particularly like Jingle Bells by anyone!) And feeling only a smidgen of Catholic guilt here, I confess that I really don’t care for “Silent Night” no matter who sings it.
On the other side of the equation (songs I like) here is one of the most played Christmas tunes of all time but despite repeated hearings I still kinda like it. Jose wrote the song based on his growing up in Puerto Rico (click here.) In case you are wondering, the 4th line “Prospero ano y felicidad” translates “A prosperous year and happiness.”
Not sure exactly how I landed on this but thought it fit in with the above:
