So Now He Is Undead?

I was saving the following death-of-Mr. Peanut for a post I was planning on doing about Super Bowl commercials.  (CBS has a special on T-V tonight featuring the greatest Super Bowl commercials.)  However, Kobe’s death has impacted the Buzzyblog.  Now, fancy that set of circumstances! 

Last week the Planters Peanut folks unveiled an ad campaign wherein they killed off Mr. Peanut.  It was supposed to be part of a week long lead up to the Super Bowl where they were going to release another commercial related to Mr. Peanut going down – literally!  Here is the story.

However, in some strange case of politically correctness, the Planters folks have now halted the ad campaign out of respect for Kobe dying in the helicopter crash.  (I’m not making any of this up mind you.)

Did Kobe die so that Mr. Peanut can live on?  We’ll just have to see won’t we?  All of which leads me to conclude by paraphrasing that old saying – when God shuts a Kobe, he opens a Peanut.  (I hear your groans.)
