Some great weather so far this month. If I knew how to include an emoji here on the Buzzyblog, I’d show that crossed fingers one to indicate here’s hoping it stays that way. (Believe it or not but the explanation for why we cross our fingers as a sign for good luck has to do with a cross (click here.)
But I got some housekeeping to do before continuing to extol this great February weather. At the risk of sounding like my Mom, who frequently makes comments along the lines of “Maybe I am losing it,” I forgot to post the Buzzy birthdays on the first day of this month like I usually do.
You cynics out there could possibly make a case that I did so on purpose just because it is my birthday month and I did not want to acknowledge it. However, unlike some of my peers who would just as soon not confess to being another year closer to the big 70, I really don’t mind notching another year closer to that milestone. Since I am only 69, I guess you could say that I’m down for that number. (Long way to go for that joke wasn’t it?)
Here, only two days late then, are the February birthdays in the Buzzy family.
Tommy Cullison and Roy Norris on the 4th, Lisa Mercure the 5th, Jennifer Adkins the 6th, Linda Lepper the 10th, Martin “Mole” Morris the 11th, Rachel Miller along with some old geezer on the 12th, Cousin Lorraine Teefey the 17th, Chris McKay and my nephew JC Hofmeister the 19th, Pat Stover the 20th, my Father-in-law Sol Aroesty on the 21st, my nephew Stephen Taylor on the 27th; and Pat Guy the 28th.
Also in February, this year’s Mardi Gras falls on the 25th. At my friend Nancy’s suggestion we are going to host a Mardi Gras party at Buzzy’s Country Store that Tuesday evening so mark your calendars. I’m not sure what all Nancy has planned but it should be fun. Gary Rue and his Smoke Creek band will be down to play some music for us that evening.
And to say goodbye to February, this year it has an extra day in it on Saturday the 29th when we will celebrate the Leap Year. See, had I been born on the 29th, I’d only be like 17 this year.
The thought of being 17 and trying get laid for the first time reminded me of this Elvis tune about sexual ineptitude. (Dance was used as a metaphor for sex.) Elvis has other lines in the song that, when listening to it today, have even more relevance such as “Don’t bury me because I’m not dead yet.” And “I can’t do it anymore and I’m not satisfied.”
