A musical Twofer Tuesday based upon my hearing this Cole Swindell tune played in Buzzy’s Country Store the other day.
Given that I am not a true blue country music fan, I thought that Cole’s take sounded a little familiar. My first thought was “Is this a re-make?”
Turns out that Cole and his song writing folks used Jo Dee Messina’s original 1996 tune as the inspiration for their 2022 tune. They even gave the two songwriters credit for the current version by listing them as co-authors. That’s a win-win for everyone.
Here then is Jo Dee’s original tune. I don’t know about Carolina or California, but she had me with her red hair and great voice.
