Frankie Got Me Good in the Hood

I do miss Frankie Tippet and all those old photos he used to post on Massey’s “You Know You’re From St. Mary’s County” FB page.

I have to confess however, that when Frankie would post his photos and then have us guess the contents, I’d find my lazy self saying “Come on, Frankie, just tell us what and where it is. Don’t make me do any work to try and figure it out.”

Well, Frankie just got me again and I had to smile at how he did so. Here is the back story.

I was looking for some info on something else on “You Know You’re From St. Mary’s” when I came upon the following 2021 post from Frankie:

Like Frankie suggested, at first glance I spent some time determining that it was not Point Lookout; but then found myself stumped at trying to figure out just where it is.

Finally, and again because I’m lazy and have only one cup of coffee in me, I gave up and searched the comments to find the answer. Guess how I felt when I scrolled down to learn the following courtesy of comments made by Bj Norris and Shirley Copado:

Yes, it is my adopted hometown here in Piney Point where I have now resided for 40+ years. My home is in the heart of the holler on the river side just opposite and up the beach from Swann’s Store and Hotel as shown in Frankie’s photo.

Needless to say I’m only a little embarrassed to admit that I should been able to have solved Frankie’s puzzle. He got me good. Tip of the hat to you Brother Frankie wherever you are.

Speaking of getting to the Point, I bet Tom Petty never felt embarrassed about anything – maybe because he was too busy rolling another joint:
