I have previously mentioned this excellent documentary on Irish Pubs (click here) but it is worth a second look so I have embedded it below for you to check out. (It is also running on Amazon Prime if for some reason you can’t access the YouTube video here.)
The film features interviews with the pub owners and their patrons. It provides an excellent overview of the beauty and sense of community that exists in these pubs.
In addition to the titled comment that I quoted above from one of the pub’s patrons, there are several other funny comments. (Thank God for the closed captions because some of these accents and Irish brogues don’t even sound like English and are tough to understand.)
For me, the best segments were the 3 in a row starting at the 23:00 mark where they talk about their customers as being like their family. Love the line “Maybe the little bit of charm that I have, is that I can talk to people and relax them.”
