A Week of Photo’s

Picked up a new phone yesterday and as the Verizon lady transferred my photos I looked at my most recent ones to ensure that they all had made it to my new phone. Here is a look at how I took at least one photo every day last week.

Last Monday I was feeling down and a little miffed that I had missed my friend Dickie’s life celebration event on Sunday. (Brady and I returned home from Chicago on Sunday, but could not get our flight schedule adjusted to get back home early enough to attend Dickie’s service.)

On Monday morning, I kept noticing this male cardinal bopping around on the cable line outside my man cave window. He persisted and seemed to be trying to tell me something. I really do think it was Dickie saying goodbye to and cussing me out for having missed his life celebration. (Fortunately, Cathy Cullison sent me a video of the service and I was able to hear her husband David’s euology to his brother. David mentioned a couple of times how much Dickie always enjoyed going to Buzzy’s.)

For those of you not familiar with the “Cardinal Visit” backstory, check this out:

Tuesday, I thought to do a Twofer Tuesday here on the Buzzyblog featuring two items to display in Buzzy’s Country Store: one is now on hand and one I am still in search of.

My friend Chris Axtel recently gave me this great Budweiser sign/light that I have now situated behind the counter in the Store. (Note that Buzzy’s original used to be over the Store’s front window.)

Looks Like I Need to Paint That Ductwork

My Twofer was going to also mention Clyde Ridgell’s quest in trying to locate me a Guy’s clock to have on display in Buzzy’s. Here is a photo that Clyde took during his recent visit to Anderson’s Bar. (Note that despite the photo area around the clock looking a little dark, Clyde was actually there at 3:14 p.m. and and NOT 3:14 a.m. Note too that Clyde sent me the photo at 3:05 which tells me that Anderson’s employs that barroom trick of moving the clocks up a couple minutes to avoid any last call problems.)

Wednesday was a slow day for me photo-wise. But I did manage to take this shot of something Pat Woodburn passed along to me sometime ago. When a couple in the Store informed me that they live in St. Mary’s City on Snow Hill Manor Road, we discussed the Slavic community’s history in that area. I took this photo to send to them.

Thursday was fun as I did first-day-of-school-photo’s with my Grandsons Blaise and Stoney. In this first photo, Caitie, Marley and Brady are seen chauffeuring Blaise and Stoney to the bus stop.

Here is Stoney all baseballed up and ready for his very first day at Piney Point Elementary. This marked Blaise’s second year in school.

Later on Thursday at Buzzy’s, I continued with school day photos when I took this photo of a photo of Bob Mann and his Lexington Park Elementary classmates. Free drink if you can identify Bob and my good friend Marleen (Mclaren) McDaniel.

While Thursday was fun, Friday was a sad day because throughout the day I thought frequently about a young lady who passed away very suddenly and tragically. She was a sales rep for one of our local beer companies. May Judi rest in peace.

On Saturday “Little Mary” made a return visit to Buzzy’s. Mary is owned by Jan and Jerry Kiger and remains just maybe my favorite Buzzy story. Of all the many friendships and connections that I have made and continue to make running Buzzy’s, Little Mary is one of my best and favorites. (I have previously discussed how Jan and Jerry came to own Mary and ended up visiting Buzzy’s for a car show (click here.)) Thus, I always feel a bit better and like it when Little Mary is in the Buzzy parking lot. Thank you Jan and Jerry for dropping in.

That other vehicle you see in the Little Mary photo above belongs to Gary Wood. I didn’t plan this at the time, but turns out that on Sunday we would be celebrating Gary’s birthday at Buzzy’s. It was the last photo I took on my old phone. Happy Birthday Gary!

Photo-wise then, I managed to hit all 7 days before saying goodbye to my previous iPhone. Musically, listen how the Paul mentions 6 days in this classic tune. (Saturday was a no show in the song suggesting that maybe Lady Madonna had that night off.)

There is also a Fats Domino connection musically and lyrically with the tune (click here.) His Blue Monday walks folks thru the week and Paul was trying to do the same while using Fats’ piano boogie woogie influence. Fats would later cover Lady Madonna and had his last Billboard hit record with it.
