Pretty Good August

In the words of my guy Larry David, business in August was pretty, prettaaay, prettaaay good at Buzzy’s Country Store.

And this was the case even with the camp grounds still being closed for repairs at Pt. Lookout State Park for the third year now. (I’ll talk/rant more about that in a future post.)

Today however, I want to stay positive and not do any whining about something I have absolutely no control over. (Note too, that I am not going to make any political statements here about constantly bitching and moaning all of the time. Instead, let’s stay positive as we say goodbye to a good August.)

As stated, business-wise, this has been one of Buzzy’s best Augusts under my tenure. Granted that having 5 full weekends in August did help to pad that stat a bit; but even at the 4th weekend mark this August, business was better than it has been in previous years.

I think that the primary reason however, has to do with the weather. As always, it is almost axiomatic that when the weather is good, business is good. For the most part, we could not have asked for nicer weather this past month. Granted it was a little hot on some days, but overall it was not too bad.

And while I still don’t have a Brinks truck rolling in to collect Buzzy’s weekly bank deposits, overall it has been a very good month for the home team. Quite unlike our Orioles who went 13-15 in August and have currently lost 6 of their last 10 games. But hopefully better days are coming as the Orioles roll into September, right their ship and get some of their guys back off IL and healthy for the playoffs.

Here’s to a great September for both the Birds and Buzzy’s.

Bruce will be at Nationals Park on the 7th and Camden Yards on the 13th of September. He is winding down after two years of touring. Still getting it done at 74. Catch it at the 2:40 mark where he sings “Every fool has a reason for feeling sorry for himself, turning his heart to stone, Tonight this fool’s halfway to heaven and a mile outta hell, but I feel like I’m coming home.” That’s pretty, prettaaay, prettaaay good stuff wouldn’t you say?
