As I was talking to a visitor in Buzzy’s Country Store yesterday, she informed me that she was from Morgantown, West Virginia and was related to Don Knotts.
As she told me how she and Don were related, I had to secretly smile because just the other day I had also heard a reference to Don Knotts as follows.
A news commentator made the statement that the United States’ image around the world used to be that of John Wayne as someone who could always be depended upon to assist and defend when called upon to do so. The commentator went on to say that unfortunately that image had now shifted to the U.S. being seen as the Barney Fife of the world. (Guess, you can see why I neglected telling my visitor this observation about her Cousin Don.)
But it is not my intent here to badmouth Barney whom I always enjoyed watching and laughing at. Did you know that T-V Guide rated Don the 27th Greatest T-V star of all time?
