On my way to and from Buzzy’s Country Store, I enjoy checking out the many different Halloween decorations that spring up in October. Today’s Buzzyblog looks at spiders and skeleton themed decorations. Tomorrow’s Buzzyblog will feature some other decorations that have caught my eye.
And of course, Joey Porter has it going on with his annual Grateful-Not-So-Dead Skeletons musical display:
As for our fascination with skeletons, check out this comment from a Vietnamese lady who migrated here 40 years ago with her family and has written a book about her experiences and the differences between our cultures. She made the following observation in a Washington Post opinion column today headlined “I Emigrated from Vietnam. Halloween in America Astonished Me.”
I have previously featured most of the traditional Halloweeny tunes here on the Buzzyblog (Thriller, Monster Mash, I Put a Spell on You, Werewolves in London for example.) However, check out this tune from Andrew Gold. You may remember him more so for his Golden Girls’ theme song Thank You for Being a Friend and his hit Oh What A Lonely Boy; but here is his Halloween skeleton tune. It reminds me of the stupid joke “A skeleton walks into a bar and tells the bartender “I’ll have a beer AND a mop.”
