Memorials

Biker couple in Buzzy’s Country Store the other day told me how the Memorial Day Rolling Thunder has become the current Rolling To Remember event. It is still being held the Sunday before Memorial Day. For more info on that event (click here.)

In our conversation, the couple also mentioned two veterans’ Memorial sites that they enjoy visiting – one in Virginia and one in Illinois. Since I was not familiar with these sites, I did some googling and found the following.

The Virginia War Memorial is located in Richmond. The following video will give you some idea of what it is all about. However, if you only have a couple minutes to check it out, go to the 5:35 mark to hear a father discuss his son (shown in photo above) who died when deployed to Afghanistan.

The Illinois site features the Middle East Conflicts Wall Memorial located south of Chicago in the town of Marseilles. The Memorial Wall was created in 2004 by the Illinois Motorcycle Freedom Run organization.

Nice song here from Eddie and his Pearl Jam partners (click here.) It was featured on the soundtrack to a very good Netflix movie titled Kodachrome.
