Fred – 1988

Greg Madjeski passed along this article in The Chesapeake newspaper by Fred McCoy  click here,  Fred talks about a trip he made when he was a teenager on a steamboat down the river, around Pt. Lookout and up the Bay.  He describes how steamboats were the main mode of transportation of people and goods.
A couple months back a visitor to Buzzy’s Country Store was viewing the Pt. Lookout Prison Camp picture (below) and noted another use of the steamboat: it was the first of the “med evacs” because that’s how the injured soldiers were transported to Pt. Lookout.
