Cost of Living

I read Grisham’s The Confession on the plane coming back from Italy and again it made me think about the whole death penalty thing that we do.  (This wasn’t the first time that Grisham had made me think about the death penalty as I recall reading his book The Chamber years ago and it too made me re-think my whole take on it.)
But then I saw this article “The Appeal of Death Row” discussing a convict who actually requested that he be placed on death row because the prison conditions there were better, he was allowed more privileges and visitors, and it would take at least 20 years before he would be put to death. The economics and cost of his death row stay were amazingly high  click here. Aside from the moral and humane aspects of the issue, obviously, something is drastically wrong with this whole process.
