Just returned from visiting with my buddy Joe Cullison out in Lake Tahoe and can see why he’s lived there since 1977 as it is a beautiful place. The mountains, the lake, the Incline Village town he lives in, it’s all like a little piece of paradise. The drive from Incline down to South Lake Tahoe is one of the most scenic and beautiful drives I’ve ever taken.
Joe told me how he ended up in Lake Tahoe in the 70’s and worked at the Ponderosa Ranch. Yes, that Ponderosa Ranch. Joe had visited and liked Tahoe’s Incline Village area so he decided to relocate there and work at the Ponderosa Ranch for its owner Bill Anderson. Joe told me an interesting story as to how Mr. Anderson had purchased a couple hundred acres and created the ranch in the 60’s in response to hoards of tourists coming into Incline and wanting to know where it was click here. Mr. Anderson has since died and the ranch was sold and is no longer open click here. Per Joe’s advice, I didn’t even bother trying to find it. But here’s a Bonanza-related joke for you: The Cartwright men did not have much luck with the ladies. Maybe that explains why Hop Sing was always running around so much.
