While cleaning out some files the other day, I came across my Great Aunt Sister Agnes’ Memorial Funeral Book. (I’ve previously mentioned Sister Agnes when I took the family out to visit her (click here.)
I recall one conversation with her that still stays with me whenever I can’t sleep and am awake in the middle of the night. (Maybe she’s trying to tell me something.) In our discussion she informed me that she only slept a couple of hours a night. When I asked her what she did while she was awake all those hours she said “Pray.” I made some flip comment to the effect “That’s alot of praying. Who or what do you pray for?” She smiled and said that she had a routine where she started with the world and prayed for things like peace and an end to hunger etc. She said she then proceeded to work her way down her list of petitions and smiled as she noted “I even have you and your family included in there.” I thanked her and requested that she try and move me up in her rotation some.
