I Ain't as Good A Bartender As I Once Was

Kim Wiley directed me to Toby Keith’s newest tune “Hope on the Rocks” about folks coming to a bar to get away from their problems.  Not a bad tune but it’s a little on the down side.  Also, it is not really one I relate much to as, save for one or two aimless souls, the majority of my Buzzy friends who trundle into the Store are mostly upbeat and positive.  The downers I try to steer to the American Legion.

Bottom line, when it comes to Toby, I still prefer this tune of his as one that I can personally relate to.  The only caveat however, is that while I can certainly confirm the relevance of the first part of Toby’s line “I’m not as good as I once was,” more and more I’m not so sure that I can say the same about his second verse “But I’m as good once as I ever was.”
