Two Boats

From Enterprise

Last Saturday at Buzzy’s Country Store, most of my day involved hearing folks comment on two news stories – the Pt. Lookout boating accident and the Boston manhunt for the terrorist bomber.  Just about everyone who came into the Store discussed these events.

First thing Saturday morning, several rescue vehicles sped down to Pt. Lookout in response to a boat capsizing.  Through the course of the day then, visitors to the Store would comment on the accident and state what they had heard.  That the incident involved local individuals made it even more significant and impactful to folks who knew them.

With a national event like the bomber manhunt in Boston, the vibe was a little different.  Folks had seen and heard the same information.  After commenting on  what was already known, most folks would then add their own opinion.  For example, a couple of individuals said something along the following lines “I’d like to see that SOB walking across the parking lot right now because the manhunt would be over after I got done with him.”

On the way home Saturday night, it occurred to me that my day had started out with a boat accident and had ended with the bomber being found hiding in a boat.   Boats are not supposed to be associated with such tragedy and drama right?
