Furlough Friday so I guess that there is no longer “Casual Friday” where you could dress down and wear some jeans to work on Friday. Hence, you can say that Casual Friday was a casualty of Furlough Friday. Does that now move to “Casual Thursday” instead?
Also, guess we’ve lost “Hump Day Wednesday” because strictly speaking the hump, or middle, of the 4 day work week, now falls on Tuesday afternoons around quitting time. (One note which proves that all pain is relative: a truck driver was in Buzzy’s Country Store the other day discussing the Furlough Friday situation when he commented “I don’t know what these Government workers are complaining about. I had to take a 20% pay cut too but the only difference was I didn’t get a day off. Wish they would tell me to stay home on Fridays.”
The Furlough Friday Day O tune that is making the rounds is good but it was aimed at teachers and school staff being furloughed. Here’s an updated tune that talks to federal furloughs. It even mentions “O&M money” a term that I have tried unsuccessfully to forget.
