| From “Our State” Magazine |
A North Carolina couple were staying at St.Michael’s Manor earlier this week, here doing research on some of their Civil War ancestors. In our talks, they informed me of Layden’s Country Store which is located in Belvidere, North Carolina. Layden’s is famous for its cured meats and sausage.
I located a good article describing Layden’s in “Our State” magazine (click here.) I like the way the author describes Layden’s and their meat market operations. (In this case, meat really is meat.) Also here is another reference from the Google machine on Layden’s.
Re: his cheap meat comment, sounds like Mr. Layden may have had a little of Buzzy in him.
Belvidere is also semi-famous for having been the home and burial site of Wolfman Jack.
