Beached Boys

Following my Beach Boys’ comment the other day where I said that I didn’t particularly care for most of their music, a couple folks questioned me about it. Someone even went so far as to say that it was semi-un-American for me to bad mouth the Beach Boys. I think that right there may be part of the problem I had with them – they were just too red-white-and-blue-bubble gummy-Let’s-Go-Surfing-Now for me.  Even their “masterpiece” “Pet Sounds”  (click here) left me a little cold.  (OK, Sloop John B. was pretty good, but even that one wasn’t really their song (click here.))
However, here’s one of theirs that I didn’t mind from 1964. (50 years ago? Soooooooo old.)  Funny thing though, until I saw this video and listened closely to the lyrics, I never knew about the car racing side of this song. Who knew?
