Usually I pay little attention to the Washington Post’s All Met Sports section only to quickly scan it to see if any St. Mary’s County kids made it. However, this year’s selections in Sunday’s paper had a nice surprise when I saw that my buddy Jim Sewell was named the All Met Coach of the year. Jim coached St. Mary’s Ryken to a 24-4 record and the WCAC championship. Quite a feat and congratulations to Jim for coaching the Knights to their the first girls’ conference championship in the school’s history. And yes, one local girl Madison Aughinbaugh (top row right #7) made the All Met Team. Madison is only a sophomore so things look good for the Lady Knights and Jim’s softball future. (Is “Lady Knights” the right term to call them? Guess “Damsels” wouldn’t do.)
