Thanks to Cathy and Bobby Wright’s talking about how great the show House of Cards is, Pam and I finally did the Netflix thing and began watching HoC.
We knocked out all 13 episodes of Season 1 in a couple of days and are now working our way thru Season 2. As Cathy and Bobby said, it’s a fascinating show but it is a little bit scary. Scary in that it’s probably closer to the truth than we’d like it to be.
I then had lunch with my buddy Steve Raley a few days ago and he informed me that he has a relative Mariah Gillis who works on the production crew for HoC which is filmed here in Maryland. (Earlier this year there was some churn over HoC continuing to film in Maryland because of some tax breaks but all of that was worked out (click here.) How’s that for some very real political intrigue – our Maryland powers-that-be can’t work out a deal to keep companies like Beretta and McCormick from leaving over money issues, but they did manage to find a way to keep a T-V show here?!)
For reasons I don’t know why, I’m a credits guy who doesn’t mind wasting time at the end of a movie, or in this case a T-V show, reading the titles and names of folks. So I watched the end of HoC for Mariah’s name and sure enough found it in Season 1 with her listed as being responsible for “Greens.” In Season 2 she is listed as “Key Greens.” And since I had no idea what that meant, this is what I found:
