OK, with the Nationals winning last night, we can still speculate about that Beltway/Parkway/Any Which Way World Series. Nats got some work to do but the O’s are definitely in the next round for the American League Championship.
Re: rooting for both the O’s and the Nats, Washington-based Steve Czban has done a good job here with his biological vs. step-dad comparison to explain why you can be both an O’s and a Nationals’ fan. His explanation mirrors my take on the Redskins/Ravens and why I root for both of them. (Dan Snyder as a step-dad does give me pause however.)

I am a little worried about the Royals’ however because like the Orioles, they too seem to be a team of over achievers who play hard and somehow find a way to win when they need to. O’s may need to conjure up some of that magic to slip by them.
