Saw this article on what you should not buy at Trader Joe’s. As I clicked thru the links and the pop up ads, I thought “Bet Chuck is on this list.” Idiot savant that I am, (half right, right?) Two Buck clocked in at #3 on the list. Here’s an excerpt if you don’t feel like doing the link thing:
I first learned about Chuck from my buddy Greg Madjeski when he brought in an empty bottle of it to ask if I could get him a case of it. He said that a member of one of his fishing parties had given him this bottle of Charles Shaw and that he and Darlene had liked it.
Bobby Wright was in the Store when Greg asked me about this and he immediately recognized it as “Two Buck Chuck.” Bobby told us about the various stories of how it came to be and how only Trader Joe’s carried it. (For more info on the Chuck story click here.)
Couple days later, Greg and I did a road trip and picked up a couple cases from a Trader Joe’s in Virginia. As a retailer I can not sell it since it’s an exclusive Trader Joe product, but for $3 a bottle, it’s not bad. Almost as good as Alligator Wine.
