Any river-related discussion automatically conjures up thoughts of Creedence Clearwater Revival. Proud Mary is probably their most famous river song and one that has been covered by everyone from Elvis to Lisa Simpson.
That said, I always preferred listening to their song Green River. At various times in my life when I was away and feeling homesick, I would always think of the Green River line “If you get lost come on home to Green River.” What a comforting thought.
