Positive Thinking – St. Mary's City Style

In talking about St. Mary’s College celebrating its 175 years on the river, it dawned on me that I graduated from there 40 years ago in 1975.   Guess I may have to start attending some of these alumni weekends.

But also, it got me thinking about what a nice place St. Mary’s City is for a college campus.  Its connection with the past, its  location and all the positive energy surrounding St. Mary’s City, even if there isn’t any “city” there, makes it great place for a college campus. 

When I read something recently about the early 1900’s French psychologist Emile Coué, I thought that his mantra “Every day in every way, it’s getting better and better” sounded familiar.  Recognize it?  I’ll tell you later, but first check out what Couéism was all about

So basically it is the power of positive thinking which is what Norman Vincent Peale based his classic book on.  And just what was so familiar about Coué’s mantra?  Verse 2 of  my favorite John Lennon song:
