Bio Trio

Here’s a variation on the “it comes in threes” which is usually said after hearing about two folks you know passing away.

Last week the Washington Post reviewed three recently published books on rockers John Fogerty, Tom Petty and Elvis Costello.  Tom’s bio is getting headlines because it talks about his mid-life heroin addiction (click here)  The normal pattern for most rockers is to drug out earlier in their careers when the whole sex, drugs and rock n roll essentially boils down to drugs.  Tom sounds like he waited awhile before he hit that wall.

When Mike Raley and I caught John Fogerty at his Wolf Trap concert a few months ago, John talked about his Fortunate Son book coming out soon.  I thought at the time “Hope he doesn’t spend the whole book talking about the fall out with his brother and his fellow Creedence dudes.  Apparently he does as this Post reporter noted (click here.)

On the other hand Elvis Costello’s memoir sounds more uplifting (click here) and will probably be the first one I read.  Thanks to those Amazon people all 3 books should be arriving soon.

Speaking of trios, here are three country girls from a 1976 appearance.  No comments on how young they look:
