Days Like This Pt. 2

Recall that yesterday I told you how my day started off on the wrong foot when I stubbed my toe attempting to retrieve the newspaper which wasn’t there?  Well, later in my day, that same foot would be broken as I was sprawled out on the ground at the bottom of the steps leading out from the side door of the Store.  I slipped on the bottom step and rolled my ankle.   My first reaction, believe it or not, was to smile at how this was the result of some sort of self-fulfilling-prophecy that I knew I was in for a bad day just based on how it had begun earlier.

I wasn’t smiling however, after the foot began to hurt, swell up and send me to the Urgent Care Center.  Sure enough, the x-rays showed that I had broken the 5th metatarsal in my right foot.

Today I head to the orthopedic people to get a cast, or boot or whatever it is that they put on dummies’ feet when they break them just walking down the steps.   Still can’t believe I did that particularly since this isn’t the first time that this bottom step has tripped me up, or down as it turned out.  I slipped on the same bottom step a few weeks back and made a note to myself to see about re-doing those steps.  (These were also the same steps that my Aunt Sissie slipped on as she was leaving the Store years ago and sustained some bad bruises.)  So, bottom line I got to get these killer steps replaced.

While I was in the  Urgent Care waiting room, Larry Yeatman sent me a note about my Day’s Like This post of yesterday.  He suggested that the Fabulous Thunderbirds also had a good song about having one of those not-so-great days.   In retrospect, maybe I’d been better off had I stayed in bed.
