Today in history marks the wedding of Marilyn Monroe and Joe DiMaggio in 1954. Nine months later, nope no Little Joe, instead they divorced supposedly because of her famous blown skirt photo session.

Joe never remarried and placed roses on Marilyn’s grave every day after she died.
Then there is the Paul Simon story that he had to explain to Joe that his “Jolting Joe has left line” in Mrs. Robinson was actually a compliment and not a put down (click here.) Joe couldn’t quite understand Simon saying that he’d gone away when he was still alive and doing Mr. Coffee commercials.
While Joe may not have been the sharpest pencil in the drawer, he did manage to nail the most famous movie star of all time and he still holds a consecutive hitting record 56 games that will probably never be broken (click here.) Not too shabby.
